A LONG DISTANCE TREKKING
More than 450km of adventure that will take avid trekkers and mountaineers with pilgrim soul through a long-distance trekking. The trek by itself is unmarked but most of the time it passes by other marked routes. A great backpacking experience!
Completion of the whole trek can be done in 24 stages, grouped into five different sectors.
The trek can be combined with any other European thru-hikes, especially other sections of Pilgrimage to Santiago (Way of Saint James) resulting then an attractive and wild way to reach Santiago. See more information below.
CORDILLERA CANTABRICA MOUNTAIN RANGE
Starting near Reinosa (in "Collado de la Fuente del Chivo") and finishing in Balboa, along the heart of Cantabrian Mountain Range (“Cordillera Cantábrica”) in the north of Spain, through a route traversing 4 Spain communities and 9 Parks and lots of Protected Natural Areas, from East to West.
With a glacial-karst origin, this mountain range is full of sharp peaks, watercourses, and green valleys. The rural environment trying hard to preserve traditional core values will be found across the way.
Different types of accommodations can be found along the route including also the possibility to do it with a bivouac approach that would increase the toughness of the trek. Be prepared!
